SUMMARY:Success in 90 - C.R.A.S.E - Civilian Response to Active Shooter Training - Drew Brakebill
DESCRIPTION:Make plans to join our Success in 90 seminar scheduled for Wednesday\, August 5\, 2026 at 8:30 AM. Corporal Drew Brakebill of the Blount County Sheriff's Office Training Unit will present C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) and which is part of a larger course provided free of charge by ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training). This program has been used to train law enforcement officers across the nation in how to rapidly respond to dangerous active threat situations. Over the years we've seen response times shorten and the capabilities of law enforcement increase. As a result of increased public awareness\, many citizens have asked what individuals can do to protect themselves and reduce the dangers faced during one of these events. Avoid\, Deny\, Defend has been developed as an easy to remember method for individuals to follow - as we've seen that hiding and hoping isn't a very effective strategy. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course\, designed and built on the Avoid Deny Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004\, provides strategies\, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events\, the role of professional guardians\, civilian response options\, and medical issues. RSVP's are required. Please sign-up early as space for this event will fill-up fast. Once registered\, you will receive a confirmation email. Register Here
