Local Voices: Celebrating East Tennessee's Authors

Join us for our second annual event celebrating our East Tennessee authors! More than 60 local authors will have their books for sale in the Main Gallery at BCPL from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, then our speakers Dr. William J. Carl, III, Ph. D. and Dr. Jim Stovall will take the stage during the special program to follow from 12:45 pm - 1:30 pm.

About our guest speakers:
William J. Carl, III, Ph.D., author of Assassin’s Manuscript, will be the headline speaker for this event. Dr. Carl has published eight works of non-fiction prior to publishing this latest thriller he describes as "Dan Brown meets Daniel Silva". Dr. Carl is eager to share his insight into the writing process along with practical, actionable advice for his fellow writers. In addition to his writing, Dr. Carl is a dynamic speaker who has spoken in 40 states and a dozen foreign countries, as well as academic institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, and Pitt, to name a few.

Jim Stovall, Ph.D., author of several books on journalism and communications, along with the mystery novel "Kill the Quarterback", will also be present for the event and will give a brief introductory speech. Dr. Stovall was the founding Writer-in-Residence for the Blount County Public Library and the 2021 East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement inductee.
